Five things the brochures don't lead with
- Most "free" weddings are symbolic. Hyatt, Palace, Excellence, Karisma, RIU, Royalton and Hard Rock's free ceremonies are not legal marriages. Making it legal costs extra: Hard Rock Mexico charges a $1,200 admin/government fee. Free vs legal →
- The qualifying bar ranges from nothing to 35 room nights. Hard Rock has no minimum stay; Couples needs 3 nights in any room; Royalton needs 35 room nights (third-party sources).
- The free slot is often weekday-only. Sandals: Monday to Thursday, 9am to 2pm. Excellence Lovebirds: Monday to Thursday at 11:00 AM only.
- Your photographer may cost more than your wedding. Hard Rock charges $1,500 per outside vendor, per service, per day; Couples $500; Sandals bans outside vendors. Hidden costs →
